The Garden Route is one of South Africa's most stunning areas to travel - with long sandy beaches that stretch for miles, serene estuaries to explore and a little adventure in the shape of the world's highest commercial bridge bungy - explore the Garden Route and spend a week volunteering in Chintsa - the perfect balance.

Travellers will stay in a range of backpackers along the route. Whilst volunteering in Chintsa, Buccaneers Lodge & Backpackers hosts volunteers in dorm style accommodation.

Day 1
Arrival in South Africa, connect to your flight to East London where you will be transferred to Chintsa.
Arrival Buccaneers Lodge & Backpackers, Chintsa, Wild Coast, South Africa - check in and unpack Meet at the Buccaneers main house deck for welcome introduction and project overview.
Dinner at Buccaneers

Day 2
8:00to 8:45am breakfast
9am Meet for departure to your project site and commence project
Lunch on site
Continue project
Depart for Mama Tofu and dinner in a rural village.
Head back to Buccaneers for overnight

Day 3
7:45 breakfast Buccaneers
8:30am depart for your project site
Continue project
Lunch on site
3pm departure for Beach hike back to Buccaneers
7pm Dinner Buccs
After Dinner talk by Sean "My South African Story"

Day 4
7:45 breakfast Buccaneers
8:30am depart for your project site

4:30 Depart for the Emerald Vale Brewery

8:30 departure for Addo Elephant National Park
Picnic Lunch
Afternoon spent game viewing in the park followed by a night at Avoca River Cabins Dinner at the camp

Day 8

8:30 departure for the Bloukrans Bungee and the madness of this place
Lunch en-route
Stop for a visit to Monkeyland primate sanctuary
Early evening arrival Plettenburg Bay Backpackers Beach House
Dinner out and about in Plett (venue to be confirmed)

Day 9
8am breakfast
Leisure day with the option to hike Robberg peninsular or head out on a whale watching trip (optional)
Lunch for your own account
Dinner TBC & Overnight Plett

Day 10
7:30 breakfast
8am departure early morning river cruise up the Keurbooms river
Stop en-route for a visit in Knysna lagoon (optional)
Lunch at the Knysna heads
Next stop the world famous Cango Caves for an adventure tour of the caves
Overnight Oudtshoorn – Backpackers Paradise

Day 11
7:30am breakfast
8:30 am depart for the Ostrich Farms an exciting morning to spend with this crazy gravity defying bird
Lunch en-route to Cape Town
Arrival at Ashanti
Dinner Long street Cape To Addis

Day 12
7:30am breakfast
Cape Point Tour:
- CHAPMAN'S PEAK DRIVE - Spectacular drive along the Peninsula.
- CAPE OF GOOD HOPE RESERVE - Observe wildlife in a fynbos land-scape.
- CAPE POINT - Africa's most south-westerly point.
- BOULDERS Beach - Walk along this penguin reserve (Entrance fee not included, but penguins can be seen without entering the re-serve.)
- Return to Cape Town via SIMONS TOWN, KALK BAY & MUIZEN-BERG coastal route Dinner at Hope Street Market for own account

Day 13
Chill day and the following activities are available
City walking tour
Shark Cage diving
Wine tasting Tour
Or just enjoy the city!!

Day 14
Depart for the Robben Island ferry terminal for transfer to the island. Enjoy an amazing tour of the prison and learn some amazing insights into the middle years of Nelson Mandela's and other Robben Island in mates lives. Return to the waterfront for a lunch Enjoy a walking trail up table Mountain using the Platteklip to Cable station route. The descend will be via cable car Depart for airport and the start of your return journey

*The Cape Town section of the tour may change due to weather conditions. The ferry to Robben Island does not run in high wind or seas. It's sometimes better to go in the am or to swop the 2 days to allow for the better sea conditions. This trip is a highlight so we do try to get our groups across.
