Travellers will stay in a range of 3 star guest houses and hotels along the route. Whilst volunteering in Chintsa, Buccaneers Lodge & Backpackers hosts volunteers in dorm style accommodation.

Day 1
Arrival Cape Town Airport Transfer to hotel to check in and unpack 
Walking tour of Cape Town Dinner at a Waterfront restaurant - enjoy the sights and sounds of one of the world’s most beautiful cities as you explore it on foot. Includes a visit to the Castle of Good Hope, slavery sites, Parliament Buildings and District Six Museum. 
Overnight in the Fire & Ice Hotel, Cape Town

Day 2
Robben Island Tour - Take a boat ride across the ocean to visit historical Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
Guided hike up Table Mountain - An exciting hike to the top of Table Mountain where you can explore and enjoy the magnificent views. Enjoy a pic-nic lunch on the mountain.
Dinner at Gold Restaurant - Enjoy traditional African cuisine at this exciting restaurant!
Overnight in the Fire & Ice Hotel, Cape Town

Day 3
Take Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point where two oceans crash and meet. Then onward to Betty’s Bay to get close to around 5000 African penguins before heading for Kogelberg Biosphere (this UNESCO World Heritage Site has more plant species than many countries). End your day in Hermanus for some land-based whale watching.
Dinner and overnight in Hermanus

Day 4
Early departure for Gansbaai or hang in Hermanus and watch for whales - The adventurous will get transferred to Gansbaai to go cage diving with the Great White Sharks (optional activity), or spend the morning wandering the cliff paths looking for whales.
Depart along Route 62 towards Oudtshoorn - Head along South Africa’s famous country road and view high mountains, rugged plains, vineyards and orchards. Stop at a famous pub for a drink along the way.

Day 5
Optional elephant experience - Get to know these gentle giants up close and personal!
Ostrich farm visit - We tour an ostrich farm, where the more daring can ride an ostrich (within weight limits), and get a picture taken kissing the world’s most friendly ostrich—Betsie.
Cango Wildlife Ranch - The Wildlife Ranch is a sanctuary to some of the world’s most endangered animals (optional extra)
Cango Caves - The Cango Caves are an illuminated wonderland of subter-ranean magic and mystery. The tour will explore the nar-row passages and vast halls filled with colorful ancient stal-actites.
Dinner and overnight at Myoli Beach

Day 6
Wilderness National Park - Optional canoe on the Wilderness lagoon or go hiking in the forest.
Knysna - The popular town of Knysna calls for a stop at the Heads, where the sea crashes through two massive sandstone cliffs.
Bloukrans Bungy Jump - Face your fear and jump from the world’s highest bungy jump (optional extra).
Tsitsikamma National Park - Spend time in paradise as you explore the Tsitsikamma National Park. Walk along forest trails to a suspension bridge and find quiet spots to absorb the beauty of this gorgeous place.
Dinner and overnight at Storms River

Day 7
Waterfall Zipline or forest walk - The 8 slides, of which the longest is 211m, zigzag along ca-bles across the river gorge (optional extra). If you don’t want the zipline experience, then you can go for a walk in the forest.
Surfing and shopping in Jeffrey’s Bay - We will stop in Jeffrey’s Bay where you can go shopping for specials at the Billabong, Rip Curl and Quicksilver factory shops. Spend the afternoon having a swim or surf!

Day 8
Depart Jeffrey’s Bay for Addo Ele-phant Park
Game drive - Enjoy a 3-hour drive in Addo National Park (in tour bus) - Addo Ele-phant National Park was proclaimed in 1931 to provide a safe haven for the few wild elephants who sur-vived government-sponsored culling to remove them in the early 20th century. Today the ele-phants number in their hundreds. Our tour concentrates on finding and viewing these elephants.

Day 9
Early Breakfast
Early morning game drive in Addo National Park
Schotia Private Game Reserve - Schotia is a private game reserve and we can take our guests as close as possible to get the best viewing of rhino, hippo, giraffe and the king of the beasts, lion! The tour starts in the late afternoon.
Dinner and overnight Addo area - This is a 4-hour guided game drive in an open Land Rover. After an amazing experience where you will view more animals than you thought possible, enjoy a delicious dinner which is prepared over an open fire.
A short, spotlight night drive providing the possibility of more nocturnal animals completes your experience.

Day 10
Transfer from Addo on to Chintsa - Enjoy the scenic drive from Addo and continue on to Chintsa.
Afternoon orientation and beach games - The afternoon is spent “finding your feet” and learning about the project and covering all the operational guide-lines during orientation, and enjoy some beach games in the late afternoon.
Dinner - Introduction to IsiXhosa, the local language over dinner
Overnight at Buccaneers

Day 11
Depart for project “Transforming Learning & Sporting Environments”. 30 minutes drive to site. Today’s tasks will include preparing the area for the jungle gym and play areas that will be developed (or similar project). Typical work will involve removing the “clutter” around the school, understanding the design plan and marking out the design.
Lunch - Picnic-style lunch at the school.
Project continued
Visit to Giant Sand Dune - Enjoy the Chintsa sunset while you enjoy a beach walk home.
Overnight at Buccaneers

Day 12
Depart for project “Transforming Learning & Sporting Environments” - 30 minutes drive to site. Getting physical today we begin the hole digging, cement mixing and pole work for the construction of the jungle gym (or similar project).
Lunch at Buccaneers
Project continued
Wetsuits on and hit the beach for the afternoon where you will learn about the ocean while learning to surf. Other beach games on the go too.
Overnight at Buccaneers

Day 13
Depart for project “Transforming Learning & Sporting Environments” - 30 minutes drive to site. Keeping it physical today we continue the hole digging, cement mixing and pole work for the construction of the jungle gym.
Lunch - Picnic-style lunch at the school.
Project continued
Cultural tour and traditional dinner - A late afternoon walk through the rural village of Ngxingxolo ending at the legendary Mama Tofu where we have a dinner of traditional Xhosa food, prepared on open fires. Depart village after dinner arriving home for a well earned rest!
Overnight at Buccaneers

Day 14
Depart for project “Transforming Learning & Sporting Environments” - 30 minute drive to site. Continue with project tasks as needed.
Lunch at Buccaneers
Stungu Cliffs Hike - Head out to the start of a beautifully scenic hike along our coast, with an informative talk and discussion of our region.
Overnight at Buccaneers

Day 15
Depart for project “Transforming Learning & Sporting Environments” - 30 minute drive to site.
As your last day on site, you will have the final objectives set by our team leaders which will ensure your overall efforts reach a point of completion. Enjoy your time in the village!
Lunch - Picnic-style lunch at the school.
Project continued
Dinner Overnight at Buccaneers

Day 16
Spend a leisurely morning doing on of the many optional activities on offer. Activities include surf school, horse riding, game drive, quad biking, mountain biking, cheetah interaction and paint ball.
After lunch you will head to the airport for the start of your journey home.
Transfer to East London airport
Fly to Johannesburg and await your return flight home
